I am here today to confirm a passion that I have held my entire life. I am officially announcing my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Utica. I am running for mayor because, I believe, that this city has lost its way. Uticans need to feel proud about their city again. One issue that I will address today is something that this community has lost years ago, it's civic pride.
Public Safety -
I am the only candidate with the experience to deal with public safety.
As a former Fire Marshall and working side by side with many different police agencies, I understand fully what needs to be done to keep our residents safe. With that being said,
as your Mayor, I will give our first line police officers and fire fighters every tool they need to take back the streets that we have lost.
Economic Development - We all know there’s a lot to do when it comes to economic development,
but the least we can do is to work closely with our local, state and federal elected officials to create investment opportunities. Government needs to be proactive.
We need to create an environment that will attract investment,
while at the same time, keeping our existing businesses located right here in Utica. We need to get people excited about Utica again, and then business will follow. As mayor, you can be assured that City Hall will be business friendly and
that every business owner will have my full support, cooperation and attention.
Leadership -
You will find that my resume and record of accomplishments
prove that I have the ability to lead. Most recently as the former chief of staff, I initiated beautification programs such as curb appeal and a new signage program which, if enacted, will beautify this city second to none. I will be a decisive leader. I will not waiver on the tough decisions and
at the end of every day the tough decisions will be made! My parents are proud parents and they instilled, in all of us,
the family values of honesty, integrity and hard work .Because of those values, you can count on me to lead this city 24-hrs a day 7 days a week, making sure that our neighborhoods are safe and clean
not just during the election season, but all year long. Last but not least...
Civic Pride -
(to me it means truly believing in your city) Anyone who knows me knows that I am proud to be a Utican.
My passion for this city is second to none. I will pay attention to detail. Every street, curb, park and crooked sign will be addressed on my first day in office. During the great depression, a prominent Utican Maria Proctor, kept her fortune in local banks to keep them afloat. She hired Uticans to take down the Baggs Square Hotel brick by brick
to keep them working . She replaced it with a stone monument. Why?... because she had civic pride. Above the main entrance there is a plaque that reads“Utica, an honorable and patriotic city from the earliest days.Let us keep up its high standards.”
When elected Mayor, I will be honored to lead this patriotic city and
I can guarantee that I Will keep up its high standards.
